CPA Australia Certification - individual and Practice level

With a membership of more than 122,000 professionals across the globe, CPA Australia represents one of the world's largest accounting bodies.  The CPA designation is widely recognised as a mark of high professional competence, from the Asia Pacific to the UK and USA and few would claim to represent such a degree of professional credibility and international recognition.
CPA Australia certification is possible at the ‘individual’ and ‘practice’ level – subject to separate and distinct criteria.  CPA Australia does NOT certify an Accounting ‘Practice’ simply because it employs CPA certified individuals.   To offer public accounting services, CPAs must also complete CPA Australia's Public Practice Program, involving distance learning and residential components, and must hold a Public Practice Certificate in accordance with the CPA Australia's by-laws.
As a client of Your Super Accountant, you will benefit from the assurance provided by CPA Australia certifications being maintained at the individual accountant level, and for the overall practice.

CPA Australia Certification - individual CPA level

Individuals certified by CPA Australia are able to use the “CPA” post-nominal.  The CPA designation is a mark of high professional competence.  It indicates soundness in depth, breadth and quality of accountancy knowledge. Certified Practising Accountants (“CPAs”) are individuals who must:
  • have completed a tertiary degree accredited by CPA Australia,
  • have undertaken rigorous and comprehensive post-graduate study centred on the CPA Program,
  • have atleast three years' mentored experience working in their area of accounting or finance,
  • adhere to a strict Code of Professional Conduct, and
  • constantly enhance their knowledge and undergo continuing professional development (CPD) commitments of atleast 120 CPD hours every three years via structured professional development programs, including attendance at seminars, workshops, lectures and discussion groups.
The CPA designation of individuals provides you with an assurance that you will benefit from a combination of qualifications, skills and experience from someone who is required to remain at the leading edge of their profession.  For more information from CPA Australia’s website CLICK HERE.
CPA Australia Certification - of overall Practice
The Public Practice Program focuses on non-technical skills, building on the technical expertise gained from the CPA Program and hands on business experience.  It includes distance learning and interactive residential components.  The emphasis is on providing professional services in a practice environment, utilising technical and communication skills.
Public Practice Certificate holders are required to satisfy ongoing professional development requirements, must adhere to strict professional guidelines including the "Code of Ethics for Professional Accountants” and are subject to regular independent quality assurance reviews.
To help ensure the highest quality is maintained, CPA Australia provides its Public Practice Certificate holders with a comprehensive framework of support such as:
  • online access to CPA’s  ‘Good Practice Guide’ - a comprehensive set of  analytical tools, case studies, documented procedures and template policies representing good practice (developed with input from some of Australia's top 20 corporations, regulatory bodies and individual members),
  • Technical Resources including a Library and News updates,
  • Free Ethics services,
  • CPA Australia’s Continuing Professional Development (CPA CPD) programs provide structured means to gain valuable knowledge and skills.  There is an extensive range of over 1600 quality and professional Training & Events per year coving relevant topics via e-Learning courses and delivered face-to-face by high calibre presenters.
